FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT TUBS:
Q. Can
your tubs be delivered to a hospital?
A. Yes,
we have done this in the past, though most hospitals are not open to this. If
your doctor and/or midwife and your hospital are willing, we will help arrange
it. We need to deal directly with the head nurse in the maternity ward.
Hopefully the hospital will have somewhere to store the tub until you are in
labor. If not, we cannot guarantee that we can get the tub to you in time for
your delivery. Email or call us with any questions about this option.
Q. How
do you clean/sanitize your tubs?
A. Great
question! When we get a used tub home, first we fill it up and run it with
regular spa chemicals, usually bromine. We bring it up to temperature and
inspect it to make sure everything is in working order (this ensures your
security deposit refund). Next we drain it, spray and wipe it down inside and
out with bleach water, then refill it. Then we run bleach through it to kill
any blood borne or other bacteria. Finally, we spray and wipe it down again
with Dr. Bronner’s natural cleaner.
Q. What
can/can't I add to the tub to keep it clean during use?
A. We
highly recommend GSE, Grapefruit Seed Extract liquid, available at any health
food store, Sprouts, Whole Foods, and even the 'health food' section of some
grocery stores. Our clients have found this very effective in maintaining their
tub water for up to 2 weeks. You will add 20 drops every day or as often as
needed. You cannot hurt the tub or yourself by adding too much, as it is a
natural bactericide. You have the option of requesting chemical if desired.
Q. When do we receive the tub?
A. We
calculate the tub delivery date based on your due date. We look at your due
date, go to the previous Saturday, and then go back a week from there. For
example, if you are due on Thursday, June 26, we'll go to the Saturday before,
June 21, and go back a week to June 14, which will become your tub delivery
date. We'll take into consideration any special circumstances such as previous
early deliveries, just let us know. We also now offer additional early weeks,
upon availability, for an extra $50 per week.
Q. What if I don't deliver by my due date?
A. We
understand! You will not be charged for going 'overdue'. A baby's birth is in God's
timing, not mans, so we plan our scheduling around the possibility of our moms
being “late”.

Wenger & Groff's Story:
"This was our third baby, second water birth, and first homebirth. I can't imagine a better way to give birth than at home, in a hot tub, with my family around me! My baby was in the posterior (sunny-side up) position, making for a long labor (25 hours) and lots of back pain. The hot tub made it manageable, and was easy to set up and use. Thanks also for being so great to work with-- for accommodating our request to have the tub a week earlier than originally reserved, and for a great delivery and pick-up service!"
